As one of the largest universities in Indonesia, IPB University has stated a vision of sustainability as a long-term goal. This study examines the operational carbon at the IPB Dramaga Campus during 2022 to 2024, contribution of transportation aspect and energy consumption. The results show that the operational campus increases from 9,439 to15,937 tons CO2eq or 69% during 2022-2024. The increase in electricity consumption of 53% significantly contributes to carbon production from 10,557,427 kWh to 16,156,871 kWh in 2022 to 2024, respectively. In addition, the increase in the number of cars and motorbikes entering the university also contributes to the increase in operational carbon, with the daily number of cars and motorbikes entering the university increasing from 755 cars and 2,803 motorbikes in 2022 to 2,950 cars and 12,128 motorbikes in 2024. In conclusion, the management of operational carbon, including the use of renewable energy and green transportation, should be addressed to ensure that the target of the carbon balance of the 2030 IPB University can be realized</em><em>.</em></p> Heriansyah Putra, Erizal Erizal, Mohammad Yanuar Jarwadi Purwanto, Satyanto Krido Saptomo, Ibnul Qayim, Anisa Dwi Utami, Zainab Dwi Ramadhanis, Hana Khoirunnisa ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/835 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 21:12:08 +0700 Eksistensi mitos Onggoloco: rekayasa sosial dalam menjaga keberlanjutan Hutan Wonosadi https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/616 <p><em>Wonosadi Forest is one of the preserved traditional forests in Yogyakarta, closely associated with teh Onggoloco myth that reflect local wisdom in maintaining the sustainability of the Wonosadi Forest. The aim of the research is to analyze factors that have the potential to influence people's belief in the Onggoloco myth, analyze its existence and effectiveness in forest sustainability, and propose social engineering policies to maintain the myth as part of sustainability effort. This research uses mixed methods with logistic regression analysis, gap analysis and stakeholder analysis methods. The research results show that knowledge about myths is the factor that is most likely to influence belief in myths. Until now, myths still exist in society and are effective in maintaining forest sustainability. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate policies in the form of social engineering to maintain the Onggoloco myth in maintaining the sustainability of the Wonosadi Forest, such as including knowledge about the Onggoloco myth in the elementary school curriculum, developing ecotourism edutourism, and making the provisions in the myth into village regulations.</em></p> Ardi Setiawan, Cut Sarah Aulia Nanda, Ikhda Annisa, Meti Ekayani, Paskalia Yati, Muh. This study aims to determine the diversity of vegetation and the functions in the green belt of Kotabaru Village, Yogyakarta City. The research was conducted using survey method in 14 green lanes to identify the type and amount of vegetation during September - October 2023. Based on the results of the study, 1407 individuals were found from 49 plant species. The diversity index (H') in the range of 0.64 - 2.12 is in the low to medium category. The evenness index (E) in the range of 0.69 - 0.93 is in the medium to high category. The dominance index (C) ranged from 0.12 to 0.38, including in the low category in all types of habitus (herbaceous, shrubs, shrubs, trees, and epiphytes). Vegetation in the green belt in Kotabaru Village can provide ecological, social, and economic functions for the surrounding community but still needs optimization in other functions such as community education. In addition, maintenance of green spaces also needs to be considered in order to provide sustainable vegetation functions.</em></p> Eyda Firdausi, Ahmad Dwi Setyawan ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/395 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 21:21:04 +0700 Tinjauan sistematis tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku pemilahan sampah rumah tangga https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/680 <p><em>Rapid population growth has resulted in increased waste production, with projections that global waste will reach 3.4 billion tons by 2050, posing serious environmental challenges. Waste separation and recycling are essential strategies to address this issue, but community participation in waste segregation practices is still lacking. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing household waste separation behavior through a systematic review conducted in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was conducted utilizing the Scopus database, yielding 19 relevant articles and two additional articles identified through a manual search on Google Scholar. The analysis revealed that most studies applied the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to analyze the factors influencing waste separation intentions and actions. Commonly applied variables in research include attitudes, norms, awareness, knowledge, perceived behavioral control, law and regulation, and situational factors. The findings are expected to provide insights for researchers and support creating more effective policies to increase community involvement in sustainable waste management.</em></p> Yunda Apriani, Eko Liquiddanu, Muhammad Hisjam ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/680 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Livelihood adaptation strategies of the community in Sukajadi during the COVID-19 pandemic: non-farm or farm? https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/822 <p><em>The COVID-19 pandemic caused severe disruptions to the economy through mobility restrictions and business closures, resulting in job losses and forcing workers and entrepreneurs to adapt. This study explores livelihood strategies in Sukajadi Village, West Java, where most residents are employed in non-farm sectors and a smaller proportion in farming. A mixed-method approach was applied, combining observations, in-depth interviews and household surveys. Data was collected between February and June 2022, with follow-up in February 2024. Findings reveal generational differences in livelihood choices: older residents remain engaged in horticultural farming, while younger generations prefer non-farm employment, particularly in the garment sector. During the “second wave” of the pandemic (May–July 2021), two types of garment industries (garment manufacturing and made-to-order clothing) faced challenges, but the made-to-order sector proved more resilient. This was due to more flexible order systems, fewer workers, higher sewing skills and lower dependence on centralized markets. Although farming persists as an option, limited agricultural resources and a lack of farming skills make non-farm sectors more favourable. Overall, these findings suggest that in the face of economic disruption, people's adaptation strategies tend to be directed towards non-agricultural work rather than agricultural work which requires greater skills and resources.</em></p> Melani Abdulkadir-sunito, Ekawati Sri Wahyuni ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/822 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 21:33:51 +0700 Pengaruh kualitas batu bara terhadap produksi gas SO2 dan NOx: studi kasus PLTU “Lentera” https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/492 <p><em>The “Lentera” power plant is a 130 MW coal-fired power plant facility. The quality of the supplied coal to the “Lentera” power plant were tested using proximate and ultimate analysis to determine sulphur and nitrogen content. The production of SO2 and NOX emissions from coal combustion was affected by the sulphur and nitrogen content in the coal. Emission levels were observed using the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS). This research was conducted to determine the effect of the sulphur and nitrogen content in coal on the production of SO2 and NOX gas at "Lentera" power plant during June-December 2020. The analysis was done based on statistical analysis using simple linear regression methods and analysis of variance. Based on the content of sulphur, nitrogen and caloric value, coal from East Kalimantan Province has a lower value than coal from South Sumatra Province. The content of sulfur and nitrogen significantly affected the production of SO2 and NOX emissions. The higher the sulfur and nitrogen content in coal showed the higher the production of SO2 and NOX emissions. The caloric value of coal did not show a correlation with the production of NOX emissions.</em></p> Qori Fajar Hermawan, Nanda Khoirunisa, Zetsaona Sihotang, Muhammad Riza, Wasono Wasono ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.bkpsl.org/index.php/jplb/article/view/492 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 21:39:22 +0700
